Veterinary Clinic Appointment Scheduler

Goal: As a veterinary clinic appointment booker, you will work as a part of a multi-faceted team. The role entails booking vet appointments and surgeries at our vet clinic partners across the city. Sometimes, coordinating transportation for the appointments will be required. The volunteer candidate will work with the healthcare and vetting team to keep case notes updated.

This is a great volunteer opportunity for students in RVT, VA and DVM programs. Rescue animals present with the most interesting and challenging symptoms. It will grow your knowledge base while at the same time helping a lot of rescue cats recover from a variety of illnesses.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Available throughout the day on a flexible schedule to communicate with vet clinics on procedures and requests for diagnostic testing.

  • Respond to emails within 2-3 hours.

  • Strong teamwork and professional communication skills to liaise with vet clinics and keep staff and volunteers on the healthcare and vetting team in the loop.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make difficult, objective decisions in accordance with TCR best practices philosophy and internal policies.

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with TCR vet clinic partners with a professional and polite approach.

  • Basic understanding of common illnesses and treatment/medication, as well as the ability to learn cat-related medical terminology.

Qualifications & Expectations

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • Knowledge of Toronto Cat Rescue is an asset.

  • Medical, rescue or shelter experience or extensive knowledge of cat health through fostering.

  • Proficient with Google applications (Google Sheets, Docs & Drive, Smartsheets, etc.) and a willingness to learn – training will be provided.

  • Detail-oriented work ethic and ability to follow strict TCR protocols and guidelines, using good judgment.

Training new members takes time. As such, we ask that applicants be available to commit to at least 6 months of their time.
