Open House: 1st Anniversary Celebration

In October of 2016, the Volunteer Centre (VC) at 4229C Dundas Street West was opened to the public. Creating a space for cats and volunteers was a huge accomplishment, and showed a level of success for TCR that has never before been experienced. Proudly, we had every reason to celebrate this amazing space!Fast forward to a year later, with great pride and privilege TCR recently held its second annual Open House on October 21, 2017.  For some of us, it seems the VC changes every day.  For several guests and volunteers, they had not been back since the opening in 2016. For others, this was their first chance to meet people who may have only been a voice on the other end of the phone or email. A handful of people had never met any of us or seen TCR in action, but heard about our good work. The turnout for this event was very impressive, and we are reminded of why so many people support TCR's work; for the love of cats.Speaking on behalf of the Volunteer Board of Directors, our Chair, Sarah May, was able to share her perspective on the journey, share some milestones and give her sincere thanks to every effort by volunteers, generous gifts by donors, and incredible partnerships with agencies and stores. We couldn’t hold an event without some amazing food to enjoy together!  Everyone enjoyed delicious and healthy snacks and dips lovingly prepared by volunteers and friends.  Of special note is the mouth-watering vegetarian cake specially prepared and donated to TCR by Patricia’s Cake Creations for our celebration.    Thank you everyone for joining our celebration!
