Welcome Belinda Vandersluis
Dear TCR supporters, Following a lengthy and intensive selection process, the Toronto Cat Rescue board of directors is pleased to announce the appointment of Belinda Vandersluis as our new Executive Director. Belinda joins Toronto Cat Rescue with 20 years of senior leadership experience in the nonprofit sector and a great love of animals. "I’m truly honoured and very much looking forward to taking on this new challenge, working with the many incredibly dedicated and passionate volunteers, staff and board members during this exciting time of change and growth at Toronto Cat Rescue."Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR) is a growing organization with a huge impact in the animal rescue community. With over 1,000 dedicated volunteers and almost 400 foster homes, TCR adopts out over 2,500 cats per year. Established in 1994, TCR is a volunteer driven registered charity and cat rescue in Southern Ontario. As of one the largest rescue groups in Canada, TCR has a prominent place in cat rescue across the country. TCR receives no government funding – we operate on our adoption fees, private donations, fundraising activities, and grants. While we have Toronto in our name, over the years TCR has expanded geographically from as far east as Whitby to as far west as Oakville. TCR also operates a Kitchener-Waterloo Chapter. TCR has no shelter. We are a network of volunteer foster homes that care for the cats we rescue until they are adopted. Belinda Vandersluis is a nonprofit leader with more than 20 years senior executive experience. Previously Belinda held the positions of Director of Communications and Development at CASRAI, Director Implementation at the Canadian Clinical Trials Coordinating Centre, Executive Director for Gilda’s Club of Southeastern Ontario, and Operations Director with the National Cancer Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group. Belinda also spent time working with the Kingston Humane Society where she became passionate about feline welfare and adopted her two cats Edna and Katie. She holds a degree in business administration from Concordia University and a Certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from Queen’s University, she is a certified clinical research professional (CCRP) with SoCRA. Belinda is a volunteer member of the Society of Research Administrators International since before 2000, and is currently interim President of the non-profit division.
