About our Rescue List & Intake Bio Writers
Toronto Cat Rescue saves over 2,500 cats each year from at-risk situations. Our work starts with a dedicated volunteer Intake Team. The Rescue List & Intake Cat Biography Volunteer is a key member of this team, responsible for keeping our rescue list accurate, current and engaging to help cats find suitable foster homes. Responsibilities include writing warm and informative biographies, updating profiles as new information becomes available and removing cats when they are no longer seeking placement. Volunteers highlight each cat’s personality, ideal home environment and relevant medical or behavioural needs honestly and compassionately, while working with the Intake Team to obtain missing details and photographs.
This position is remote, Volunteers should have regular availability to check emails and complete updates promptly. Scheduling and time commitments will be coordinated based on availability and intake volume.
Although the workload will vary, timely updates and accurate descriptions are essential to helping foster homes make informed decisions. Candidates should enjoy writing, have strong proofreading skills and attention to detail, and be comfortable using shared documents and online tools. Reliability, clear communication and a willingness to ask for clarification are important.
Every cat has a story, and your words can help them find a place to land. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys creative writing and wants to make a meaningful difference in animal rescue from home. You’ll work closely with the Intake Manager and other team members to help potential fosters see each cat’s unique qualities and understand the support they need to thrive.
