Owner Surrender Requests

We understand there are times when families are no longer able to care for their cats

It can be a difficult decision to make if you or your family are no longer able to take care of your cat. Toronto Cat Rescue has very limited space available for owner surrender cats. Because our primary focus is rescuing homeless, abandoned, and at-risk cats, we are only able to accept owner surrenders on an occasional basis and only when space and resources permit.

Before submitting an Owner Surrender Request Form, we strongly encourage you to explore alternatives that allow your cat to remain in a home environment. For example, our Courtesy Adoption Program enables you to keep your cat in your care while we help promote them for adoption. You may also wish to consider rehoming your cat through trusted family members, friends, or other appropriate avenues.

If you would still like to be considered for an owner surrender, please complete the Owner Surrender Request form. Requests made do not guarantee that Toronto Cat Rescue will be able to accept your cat. We carefully review each request based on the cat’s needs and our current capacity.
