Toronto cat rescue accepts donations of gently used cat supplies at our Volunteer Centre, located at 4229C Dundas St. West, Etobicoke, ON (south side of Dundas, just East of Royal York).

Your donations will be made available to our volunteer foster parents for use with the cats in our care, and we partner with other volunteer cat organizations to share surplus items.

Items We Accept:

  • Cat litter

  • Cat food and treats (up to 6 months past the expiry date) including lickable Cat Treat tubes

  • Pet Water Fountains & Filters

  • Toys

  • Scratch Pads, Posts, Trees & Cat Condos

  • Hard plastic cat carriers

  • Cat beds

  • Other cat items like bowls, mats, brushes and so on

The Centre is volunteer run and we usually only schedule one volunteer per shift, so we recommend that you call ahead to make sure someone is here when you arrive - 416-233-0207. You can email vc@torontocatrescue.ca as well if you have any questions.

FAQ:

Q: How do I know if an item is considered “lightly used”?
A: We understand that this is a judgement call. If a cat bed has holes in it, and if a scratching post is tattered beyond use, we probably can’t make use of it. If you have an item you are unsure about, please email a photo to: vc@torontocatrescue.ca

Q: Do you accept open bags of cat food?
A: Yes. Keeping it sealed for freshness would be ideal.

Q: Do you accept expired food?
A: Up to 6 months expired. We will use the food for cats in our foster care or share with other organizations who can make use of it.

Q: Do you have parking?
A: Yes. We are located in a small strip mall, and parking is available. We have two reserved spots right in front of the centre.

Q: I live far from the Dundas St location – do you have anywhere else I can drop off?
A: At this point, we only have one location in Etobicoke. If you send an email to vc@torontocatrescue.ca and include your postal code, we can try to connect you with other worthy rescues that might be closer to you.

Q: Do you pick up donations?
A: No. Unfortunately, at this time we are not equipped to pick up donations. All donations must be dropped off at the Volunteer Centre.

Q: Do you accept used litter boxes?
A: Generally. no. Usually used litter boxes have scratches on the inside of the box, causing sanitation to become difficult between foster cats. But if you have a litter box that is in nearly new condition, we can accept these. Boxes that are lidded are especially useful.

Q: Do you accept linens (ie. towels, blankets, sheets, etc.)?
A: No. We do not use these items often and currently have a large supply of extra linens.

Q: Do you accept medications?
A: It is difficult for us to accept most medications or medical supplies, either new or used, for safety reasons. However, we do accept the following items:
Sterile syringes- 1ml, 3ml, 5ml, 10ml, 20ml
Mirtazapine - liquid or pills
Revolution, Nexgard, Bravecto
Sealed, unflavoured Pedialyte

Q: I’d like to purchase something for Toronto Cat Rescue. What supplies do you need?
A: You can certainly donate new items, but for many donors donating money is a better option. Because Toronto Cat Rescue is a registered charity, if you give through our donations page  we can issue a tax receipt for your contribution, and direct your funds to our areas of highest need.  If you would rather donate items than money, however, kitten supplies are always in high demand. This includes Royal Canin kitten or mother and baby cat food, Miracle Nipples (original size) and Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR).
