Feral Cat Recovery Centre
Providing safe spaces for feral cat recovery
Toronto Cat Rescue manages the Feral Cat Recovery Centre on behalf of the Toronto Feral Cat Coalition, supporting community efforts to humanely manage Toronto’s feral and community cat population.
In early December 2012, the Recovery Centre opened in a City of Toronto complex in central Scarborough, close to the Toronto Animal Services east shelter. For many years, Toronto Cat Rescue volunteers provided a safe and healthy space where feral and stray cats could recover following spay/neuter surgery before being returned to their colonies as part of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) programs.
Over the years, the need for dedicated post-surgical recovery spaces has declined—a trend we hope reflects the positive, long-term impact of TNR efforts across the city.
Today, the Feral Cat Recovery Centre continues to support community cats and their caregivers by providing cat food distribution and trap rentals to colony caretakers and others involved in TNR. While the Centre’s role has evolved, its purpose remains the same: supporting humane, community-based solutions for Toronto’s feral and community cats.
Intake for the Feral Cat Recovery Centre is by appointment only.
If are interested in reserving a space in at the Recovery Centre, please visit their website to complete a reservation form. All cats must arrive in traps and will remain in traps during their recovery period.
