About our Store Volunteers
Our Store Volunteers help ensure that our rescue cats across our retail adoption centres are receiving adequate care at all times by providing a clean cage, food, water, exercise and play time.
Toronto Cat Rescue is a volunteer driven organization. Most of the cats in our program live in foster homes or a partnered retail store. As a store volunteer, you can help look after cats living in a store before finding their forever home.
This role is divided into morning and evening shifts 7 days a week. Volunteers must be able to commit to at least one recurring 1-2.5 hour shift per week.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Setting up and cleaning cat cages
- Feeding and handling cats
- Provide cats with appropriate exercise, mental stimulation, play and positive physical contact.
- Provide affection with petting and grooming
- Communicate with Store Coordinator in case a cat needs medical, or behavioural help
Qualifications & Expectations
- Must be 18 years or older
- Comfortable with handling cats
- Access to a car is an asset
- Ability to lift, transport and setup cages when necessary (up to 20 lbs)
- Basic knowledge of cat care
- Dependable and committed
- Willing to clean up after a cat
- Able to work independently
