TCR has 350+ cats in foster carefall in love here

We have cats of all ages and colours, cats that are playful and cats that are laid-back.  We have kid loving kitties, and cats that wish for adult-only homes.  Cats that love dogs, and cats that want to be the the only pet-love of your life.  We have low maintenance cats, and cats that require lots of tender loving care or medication.  Our adoption co-ordinators can help you pick a kitty that is a purr-fect fit for your home, if you can’t decide! All of Toronto Cat Rescue’s cats are special in their own way and very deserving of a second chance at love!

Decided on the kitty you would like to adopt? Please call the TCR Hotline – 416-538-8592 (press 1 for adoptions and leave a message), or fill in the on-line adoption form below.

Adoption Process: An adoption counsellor will return your call and give you more details about the cat you are interested in and ask some questions about your home to make sure the cat will be a “purr-fect” fit.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have as well.

Next you will be supplied with the foster home address to have a meet and greet with your kitty.   If both parties are happy, you can sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and take your kitty home with you (in a safe carrying case).

Our adoption fee is $175. Each cat has a two week assessment period in their foster home before being available for adoption.  This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the medical attention they need and we learn about their personalities, likes and dislikes.  Our fee includes: spay or neuter, vaccination (and receive a rabies vaccination if age appropriate) and includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance.  For City of Toronto residents, the adoption fee includes a mandatory City of Toronto cat license that is valid for one year. As you can imagine, these fees only begin to cover our costs; donations & fundraising carry us the rest of the way!

Note: As of March 1st, 2014 all senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopters choice, vs. our standard adoption fee of $175.

TCR offers six weeks of free pet insurance for your newly adopted cat through Adopt Secure. To activate your free pet insurance, please go to adoptsecure.ca or call 1-800-268-1169 within 10 days of the adoption. We recommend that you activate the insurance when you bring your new family member home with you.  For a quick Adopt Secure summary of coverage: Adoptsecure Program Summary.

  1. I adopted both Lexi and Lala 2 weeks ago today from Petsmart in Brampton. They were there to get more exposure because they werent being adopted. Lala was given up by her “family” and Lexi was adopted for 2 days and brought back…..and I have no idea why. These little girls are the sweetest loveliest kitties and have wonderful character. Lexi is a little nut who likes to tear around the apartment with a mouse toy we call señor mousey and have her belly rubbed and Lala is more quiet, but she loves when people sing to her. Im very happy with my little ones and so glad that I was able to give them the forever home they deserve. Thank you so much TCR for what you guys do for these sweet little things and for letting me adopt my Lexi and Lala <3

  2. I adopted my kitten approximately 3 weeks ago. He is a little sweetheart but like to get into everything. He has bonded nicely with my 1 year old cat. The process was very easy to adopt him.
Klaudia was a wonderful help with the adoption process and gave me great tips and advice on how to introduce a second cat. She even went above and beyond and helped me get my papers back that I forgot when I picked up the lil guy.
Thank you Cat rescue and Klaudia, I am very happy with the new addition to the family.

  3. I just have to say thank you to the TCR for giving me the two loves of me and my families lives.
My cats Sierra and “Carl” (who has been renamed), are the best pets that I could have ever asked for. They are friendly, incredibly playful, and SOOO well behaved!
I cannot tell you how many compliments I have gotten from vets, visitors, and pet store employees about the calmness and confidence of my two babies. And while I know that a lot of it has to do with the fact that they are both in a happy, healthy environment, my kitties would have never been as confident or as happy as they are now if it wasn’t for the superb treatment they were given as kittens at the hands of the loving and dedicated volunteers at the TCR.
