RESCUE TRANSPORT COORDINATOR
Overview
Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR) is a volunteer driven organization. Majority of the cats in our program originate from animal shelters and various small and large rescue activities across GTA and surrounding areas of Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph, Cambridge, Brampton, Hamilton, Markham, and more. Cats are cared for in our foster homes where they are nurtured and socialized for their eventual adoption to their forever home. Adoption-ready cats are often transported to retail adoption centres.
TCR is looking for qualified rescue transport coordinators to fulfill transportation requests for day shifts and evening shifts, 7 days a week.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Transport coordinators (TC) play a key role in fulfilling transportation needs for shelters, TCR facilities, foster homes, clinics and retail adoption centres. As a TC:
You are a member of the Transport Team whose primary objective is to solicit and assign available drivers to pick up and drop off cats upon requests from other teams. You are also responsible for following through with each of your transport until completion.
Front line rescue and cat care operations are fast-paced and involve tight knit but fluid communications, collaborations and cooperations at various touch points. As a result, you liaise with Operations Managers, coordinators from other teams, and other volunteers, who in turn coordinate efforts with external organizations such as shelters, vet clinics, and retail stores.
You will work in pre-set time shifts. During this time:
You are committed and dedicated to promptly respond to transport requests by obtaining complete, accurate and up-to-date transport details; distribute the details via emails to a list of volunteer drivers in order to request for an available driver; connect the assigned driver with contacts for each destination so that the driver can complete the pick up and drop off.
You are responsible for ensuring drivers can have the complete, accurate and up-to-date information so that they can plan, and complete their route smoothly and as expected.
You are responsible for providing frequent and timely updates about outstanding transport requests to the coordinators who are in need of drivers and are waiting for a driver to transport the kitties.
You are responsible for updating the transport log, which keeps track in real-time of the status of all transport requests and volunteer driver activities.
You are expected to exercise patience, empathy, and respect in your communications and interactions, while applying a methodical and common sense approach to solving problems and handling numerous changes and adapting to changes nimbly and quickly.
