National Volunteer Week - Thank you Chris & Suzanne Vokey!
As part of #NationalVolunteerWeek, Toronto Cat Rescue is saying thank you to all volunteers across Southern Ontario. Volunteers are the heart of our organization and we couldn't do our work without them. Today, we're highlighting a special couple who work tirelessly to help TCR cats - Chris and Suzanne Vokey.
Chris started volunteering with Toronto Cat Rescue in January 2018 as a driver. He enjoys helping cats and frequently offers to do emergency drives and participate in large rescues. Chris received an email about new volunteers needed at adoptathon events and asked his wife Suzanne if she wanted to try it out. Shortly after Suzanne was also hooked on helping cats!
In September 2018, Suzanne took on the role of merchandise coordinator and tried to organize and revamp the TCR online store. She also helped organize to participate in events, such as Pet Expo and the CNE cat show, to bring awareness to TCR.
They continue to support the organization by volunteering their time because rescue cats need help everyday and both Suzanne and Chris found volunteer positions they enjoy and are passionate about.
