National Volunteer Week - Thank you Donna Bell!

We're giving thanks this #NationalVolunteerWeek to all of our volunteers in the Greater Toronto Area and in the Kitchener/Waterloo region. Today, we're thanking Donna Bell, one of our very special volunteers from the KW chapter.

Hi, my name is Donna Bell and I have been a foster home with TCR for right around 10 years. I started fostering with another organization on a whim because I didn’t think I would be able to let the cats go. I loved every minute of it and though I did fail that first time and kept my Patches.

We have had pets all of my life whether dogs or cats and I had a rescued chipmuck when I was younger. I have 3 cats of my own now, Smokey (a rescue my dad was feeding, Patches my first foster that I failed with and then my Carmella who was a TCR foster that came to me pregnant and stole my heart the day she walked into my foster room. I just love working with shy cats that need a quiet place to learn to trust humans and to me there is nothing better than the first time a cat shy cat comes to me for attention. I also love fostering momma’s and kittens but I don’t always have the time for this part of fostering as my love of fostering has lead me into a business of pet sitting, so I am not home a lot (except right now) so taking in wee ones is hard for me though I love watching them grow. I would love in the future learn to bottle feed wee ones so that is on my bucket list to do at some point.

I have been able to use what I have learned fostering cats/kittens to help me in my business and for that I am grateful to TCR for the experience I have gained by fostering for such a great organization. I could also not do my job of fostering without the great support I get from Jenn Cave and Ayr Animal Hospital.
