National Volunteer Week - Thank you Heather Penney!
This #NationalVolunteerWeek, we give thanks to all of our volunteers in the Greater Toronto Area and in the Kitchener/Waterloo region. Today, we'd like to thank a very special volunteer from the KW chapter - Heather Penney.
I heard of Toronto Cat Rescue when I adopted my first cat in October 2008 from Kitchener PetSmart. She was a beautiful dilute tortie named Kelsey. She lived to be 15 but passed at the end of August 2019 due to kidney disease.
I became a foster in November 2019. I wanted to foster to give cats a home like environment to grow. It’s been exciting meeting different cats and getting to know their personalities. My first two fosters were foster fails bringing the total of cats in the house to five. Four out of five cats have all been adopted through TCR Cambridge. I have fostered 10 cats so far and don’t think the house has gone without a foster cat since I started.
In between fostering I’m a full time Personal Support Worker in Kitchener. I work with disabled children and adults. Sometimes I work crazy hours so both keep me pretty busy.
