Each year, more than 90,000 pets enter animal shelters in need of loving homes. Today, more pets are staying in shelters and foster homes longer with a greater number needing medical or behavioural attention prior to adoption. In partnership with PetSmart Charities of Canada Toronto Cat Rescue will bring adoptable pets to six PetSmart locations in Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo in support of National Adoption Week, taking place March 6 - 12, 2023.

During the in-store event, Toronto Cat Rescue invites pet lovers to make room in their homes for pets in need. PetSmart Charities also encourage people to consider adopting pets with special needs, like sweet Sunnie (featured above on rescue day).

Sunnie came into Toronto Cat Rescue’s care in a transfer from North Bay. At just 5 months old, this sweet girl was rescued from the outside, but not before suffering frost-bitten ears. She is super sweet, loves to cuddle, purr and give kisses, knowing that she is now safe. Sunnie has received all the medical attention she needs and is recuperating in one of our loving foster homes. Sunnie will be available for adoption this weekend at the PetSmart Leaside location.

TCR is once again thrilled to be participating in PetSmart Charities National Adoption Week. Through our partner stores over 1,000 cats have been adopted in the past year. Every adopted cat means two lives saved – the one adopted and the space that opens up in our program to save another life.

We are excited to announce the official opening of our new partnership with PetSmart Leaside on March 11th. This incredible facility will allow for even more cats and kittens to get the exposure they need to find their forever homes. We invite the public to come and find their perfect new family member and join our celebrations.
