TCR Celebrates our Volunteers
Karen Lopez
I’ve been a financial supporter of Toronto Cat Rescue for a while. I’m a IT consultant who normally travels to visit clients, train others on data protection, and speak at events. In 2020, all that kind of work stopped.
Before my life of globe trotting I’d not had any resident cats because that would make jumping on a plane more complicated. My nickname is “Kitty” for a reason, though.
One of the silver linings of the pandemic was that this gave me the opportunity to step up to fostering. My first foster was Ripley, a wonderful cat who just needed to figure out how to live with humans. Since then I’ve fostered other adult cats and several collections of kittens. Along the way I adopted two cats that I was fostering, Hansen and Armstrong.
I’m a chronic volunteer in tech-related causes, but my volunteering with TCR has been rewarding in so many unique ways. I’m fortunate to be able to serve as a foster to kitties who need our help.
