Parsley and Sage: Two Opposite Peas in a Pur-fect Pod
Three years ago, Antonio was set on adopting two bonded kittens. He ‘kept checking the Toronto Cat Rescue’s website’ for months, looking for the perfect pair.
Thankfully, Parsley and Sage were worth the wait!
Antonio soon realised that he’d adopted a duo of daredevil mountain climbers with no fear of heights. He shared that when Parsley was still a kitten, she would climb up from her enclosure up onto his left shoulder.
This terrific twosome is proof that cats being littermates doesn’t mean they’ll be similar - just like human siblings, cat siblings can have completely distinct traits.
As both kittens began to explore their new home, Antonio enjoyed watching their unique personalities emerge. It turns out innocent-looking Parsley is a trouble-making “hell raiser”!
If there’s trouble in the house, you can bet it’s Parsley’s doing - it’s a good thing she’s cute!
Meanwhile, Sage is a gentle giant who acts as Antonio’s shadow (and personal bodyguard 💪)
He does have his own set of tricks though! One of Sage’s favourite rituals is to hold the bathroom door ransom in exchange for ‘scratches and butt pats’.
Despite being opposites, Parsley and Sage share an amazing bond and gave each other the confidence and comfort needed when settling into their new home.
Antonio shared with us that both were ‘brave and curious’ from the start and were ‘out and about play-fighting right away’ post-adoption.
Three years after adoption and these two are thriving. Parsley is a bottle-cap-hoarding enthusiast and Sage continues to shadow his dad and provide a chill energy to complement his sister.
From the patience it took to wait for the perfect bonded pair to the fortitude needed to deal with kittens climbing all over his home, Antonio shared with us the valuable lessons Parsley and Sage have taught him:
‘I’ve also learned so much about patience and valuing time, because of how different things are with an animal as opposed to another human. You can’t really apologise to an animal with words when you mess up. You have to do better and be better, day in and day out.’
Thank you to Parsley, Sage, and Antonio for teaching us all about doing better every day (and how to extort your friends and family for scratches!) 🙈
