Celebrating Fat Albert, Our Beloved Mascot

In October 2016 we opened our Volunteer Centre in Toronto’s West End, and around that same time we met a furry friend who would end up stealing our hearts and becoming a legend at our Volunteer Centre.

Meet Fat Albert - a 30 pound bundle of joy and the ultimate gentle giant!

This sweet cat, named affectionately by the Intake Coordinator, was known for his playful spirit despite his size.

Watching him chase wand toys with all his might, only to take a cozy nap on the couch, made everyone around him smile.

Fat Albert quickly became our centre’s mascot, and it wasn’t long before volunteers and visitors alike were drawn to his warm cuddles and friendly purrs. He had a knack for brightening up even the toughest days, offering comfort and joy to everyone who needed them.

Though Fat Albert’s time with us was shorter than we hoped, his spirit remains alive in our hearts and at the centre, where his picture proudly hangs.

This International Cat Day we celebrated all the amazing cats like Fat Albert who bring light and laughter into our lives.

Here’s to you, Fat Albert - forever our big, cuddly buddy!
