30 Year Anniversary! 🎉

It all began with the dream of the late Ferne Sinkins, who brought to life her vision in establishing Toronto Cat Rescue, in 1994.

Since then, we have had thousands of dedicated volunteers, as well as a small, yet mighty, staff team, who have helped in so many different ways, to save thousands upon thousands of cats in need.

We have not only found forever homes for them, but we have also been able to help countless cats whom no one else could save.

In our 30 year history, Toronto Cat Rescue has become a forerunner in the field of animal rescue, promoting best practices that reflect continuing advances in animal welfare and protection.

We’ve had a long and impressive list of leaders (volunteers and staff alike), who have contributed an inordinate amount to us becoming the organization we are today. In that time, we have had four Executive Directors, each of whom has helped shape and grow the organization, in partnership with a committed volunteer Board of Directors. Each ED and Board member, has left their own indelible mark, along the way.

Today, TCR is celebrating both its past and a bright new future. With Nalini Ramroop, as ED, it is in good hands. Nalini is just one shining example of the calibre of supporters we count as members of the wonderful TCR family. She started out as a volunteer in 2010, became a staff member in 2017 and is now, ED.

We are grateful for the courage of all who have crossed TCR’s path, who have cared, donated and above all, shared and demonstrated their compassion, boundless energy, and capacity to do and give of themselves, for the sake of our feline friends.

Thank you, and here’s to the next 30 years!

Kay Brenders, Board Chair
