Neutered, Vaccinated, FIV and FeLUK negative, DOB June 15, 2006. Little Joe’s previous owner was an elderly woman who was placed in a nursing home. The family took Joe from the only home he had ever known and dropped him off at a high kill shelter because no one in the family wanted him. He was only in the shelter for one day before he was rescued, however he was traumatized.
Little Joe was terrified, shy and depressed when first fostered – he hid under the bed for several days and hardly ate. It took a lot of patience, encouraging words and devotion on the part of the foster parent to get Joe to become trusting of another person again. Since then he has blossomed into a very affectionate and loving boy. He likes to be brushed and doesn’t mind having his nails trimmed. Joe loves belly rubs and he will lay on his back with his legs spread waiting for them. He also loves to sit in the window and watch the birds and wild life for long period of time. Joe thrives on attention and has no problem letting you know when he wants it. He loves to be around people and will follow you from room to room just to be with you. Joe also loves to play and runs around like a kitten at playtime.
Due to his upbringing Joe would do best in a quiet home where he would be the only pet and get all the attention he wants. He will require an adjustment period and the adopter will have to be patient with him but once he becomes comfortable in his new home he will become a very loving and devoted part of the family. He would prefer a home without kids, dogs, or male cats (female cats seem to be okay). Please open your hearts and your home and give Little Joe another chance at happiness and a forever home.
