#TBT: A little over a year ago, TCR helped @toronto_animal_services save more than 400 cats from two major and three minor hoarding cases across the #GTA.
In March 2019 , over 100 cats were found inside a #Toronto home and thanks to the support of the TCR community, we were able to bring almost 50 cats into our care. A short time later in May, more than 300 cats were found in a single Toronto apartment. Thanks to all of you, we were able to bring over 200 cats into our foster care network and eventually help them find their forever homes.
The first picture below is a reminder of what was found and the rest are just a small sample of some of the rescued kitties now, living their best kitty lives!
These types of rescues take enormous resources - volunteer, staff and financial. Without our amazing community we simply would not be able to act as quickly as we do. So thank you!

From his forever family: "Fabio has adjusted pretty well. We got him a cat tree to claim as his own, since Esme is old enough and blind enough that she won’t scale it, and Fabio loves to hang out up high. He’s been very affectionate with me and my partner. He’s also somewhat skittish, startled by lots of noises and growling at some of them before hiding under the bed. But he’s been getting used to the sounds, and I think he will learn that he’s pretty safe here." Most of the time, we like to tell you only the good news stories. Especially now! And this story ends well but unfortunately doesn't start that way.
Last week one of our amazing foster homes found an intact male (Problem #1) in distress outside (Problem #2 - please keep you cats safe indoors). Whoever the previous owners of this poor boy were put a non-breakaway collar on him (Problem #3), which overtime became embedded into his neck.
But here is where this story starts to take a turn in the right direction. Rushed to one of our partner vet clinics @balmybeachpets they were able to quickly take care of his wound and put him on the road to recovery.
Now named Phoenix, he is about 1-2 years old and is in foster care until he is fully healed and ready for adoption.

We are grateful for our #volunteers like Diana who spotted this kitty in crisis and are glad that we were able to step in to give this boy a chance for a second life.
