Adopt A Special Boy: BJ
Update: This sweet lad has been adopted, and is now in his forever home!!
BJ was found at six weeks old with extensive injuries to his back legs. Both were badly broken and he had skin wounds infested with maggots. We were not sure if BJ was going to be able to regain use of either of his legs, but we were determined to give him a chance. One leg was damaged beyond surgical repair and the other has pins placed in it to hold the bone together. The initial plan was to allow the leg with the pins to heal and then amputate the other leg. Much to the surprise of all involved in his treatment, both legs healed well and after close to 3 months of recovery, he is able to run around and play as well as any other kitten his age. He does have a limp which will always be present.
Weeks of poking and prodding, bandage changes and physiotherapy has left him wary of being held for long periods of time so he would prefer to keep all 4 feet on the ground. He does act shy when meeting new people but given time he warms up and will be snuggling at your side. He loves the company of other cats and would do best with another social feline in the home. He does not like the loud noises or sudden movements of children so a more low key household would suit him best.
He will need to have the leg with the pin monitored by his new vet, but we do not anticipate any further issues with it. BJ has had a tough start to his life but things are looking up for him. Please consider adding this very special boy to your family.
Born May 18, 2014., BJ has been neutered and vaccinated.
