Scotiabank Marathon Update
On Sunday, October 16th, TCR volunteers braved the chilly wind and rain at the Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 5k. We were pretty easy to spot, what with our faces painted with whiskers and pink noses, all wearing our bright green TCR shirts (which will be on sale at craft shows in December). Some of our team members really dressed for the occasion: they could be seen dressed as cat super-heroes, complete with masks, capes, tails and furry paws. Our team of runners and walkers had been preparing for this day for months, raising pledges and spreading the word about our cause. Their efforts paid off, as this year we raised $17,185 for Toronto Cat Rescue’s spay/neuter and Trap-Neuter-Return program.
Thank you to everyone who participated, or who pledged a team member or our team. Thanks to all of you, TCR hopes to be able to spay/neuter an additional 150 cats this year! Preparations are already underway for next year’s run, where we hope to meet our $25,000 goal! A big thank you also goes out to the Dog Lounge (http://doglounge.com/), who donated a $65 gift basket to our top fundraiser!
