Toronto Cat Rescue is 100% volunteer, with no paid employees (even the Executive members are volunteers!). Join our passionate, dedicated team today by filling in our Volunteer Form or our Foster Application!
Here are just some of the many jobs that our volunteers do: advertising, adopt-a-thons, bottle feeding, t-shirts, communicating, cleaning, coordinating, driving, designing, e-mailing, events, fostering, feeding in colonies, Facebook, fundraising, grooming, giving medicine to kitties, helping the public, ironing, jumping for joy with each adoption, keeping lists, liaising, listening, answering and asking medical questions, naming kittens, organizing events, PR, pamphlets, paying bills, picking up money, paperwork, phoning, questioning potential adopters, rescuing from Hamilton, recovery, screen printing, spay/neuter booking, sub-Q, screening adopters and new foster homes, taking pictures, tax receipts, trapping, updating lists, vet appointments, website, x-rays, yawning at midnight, zipping around the GTA… which leads to getting kitties adopted into purr-fect forever homes!

Wow, I can’t believe how much you’ve expanded since the last time I was in TO (10 yrs ago). This makes me so happy…wy\tg!
i’d love to help out
im 12 and i wnted to do everything i can possibly do to help
got back to me soon
i want to help as soon as possible
thanks
Hi Shira, There are lots of things that you could help with, but you will need to have an adult with you. Please fill in our Volunteer Form for more information. Thanks for wanting to help – very much appreciated.
I’m 12, and I really would love to help out, I met someone in my local petsmart, and she told me as long as I have an adult with me, I can voulenteer. I was wondering if there is anything I can do.? Thanks.
if you haven’t done it already, fill out a volunteer form, robyn (it’s under the ‘volunteer with us’ tab) . if you email it off to the address provided, give it a week or two (crazy busy people those cat-rescuers are!), and you’ll get an email back from somebody who can get you started volunteering with your adult ‘minder’ in tow!
a parent, guardian, or older sibling is a good choice of adult- you can get them to carry your stuff for you, drive you about, etc- it’s very handy having your own deputy hanging around- kinda makes you feel like a celebrity!
just remember to check your ‘spam’ or ‘junk’ folders for an email reply, cos those inbox settings can be sneaky, and it’d suck to miss out on an email from a TCR person by accident!
you’re gonna love volunteering- there are sooooo many kitties who need cuddling, brushing, playing with, talking to, or just snuggling upto, and they really do appreciate your time and energy- you get to nurture them and encourage them into being big strong brave kitties, and it’s awesome when you get to see them go off to their forever homes!
I was wondering im not located near you as i i live in the east end of toronto and unfortunately do not drive ..was wondering is there any type of volunteer work i can do from you from my home?
Hi Michael – TCR does not have a shelter, our address is our mailing address only. We have a network of foster families all over the GTA & Kitchener area, so you could foster in your home, if you would like. We also have feral cat colonies all over the city (and outside of the city) that need volunteers to feed & trap the cats. We have admin roles that can also be done from your home or work. Please fill in the Volunteer Form and let us know what you would like to do and I am sure we have a role for ya!
Hi Maria
Thanks for wanting to volunteer at Pet Valu Bloor! I organize the volunteers for that store and we are currently looking for morning shifts to be filled, if you are interested! Please fill out a volunteer application to proceed!
You provide a valuable service to the communty and I would like to volunteer my time. I shop at the Petvalu on Bloor and Indian Road and have seen the volunteers who look after the pets there and and spoken with Melina(sp?). I would like to help if there is a need. I am just around the corner so it would be easy for me to step in when needed – or to be put on a schedule. I have 4 cats of my own and you have helped me to have mine spayed. I have also given your name to people who needed help with spaying their cats.
Maria
Just want to say thank you, for helping the animals
