Stray Cat Rescue Program

Toronto Cat Rescue receives many calls each week from caring individuals who are hoping to help the stray cats or kittens in their neighbourhood.  We have created the Stray Rescue Program to help find homes for healthy, social, adoptable stray cats and kittens.

Adopt Arabella Cute-ella!

Toronto Cat Rescue Stray Rescue Program allows you the use of our volunteers and our website to assist you in your efforts to find the cats you are caring for a new home. It is preferable that the cats or kittens stay with you in your home and be posted on our website, and affiliated websites (ie. PetFinder.com and Adopt-A-Pet). Toronto Cat Rescue adoption coordinators will recommend your cat(s) to suitable potential adopters.

Unfortunately, Toronto Cat Rescue can NOT help with trapping stray cats and/or provide foster homes for stray cats, as we just do not have enough foster homes. You can help by trapping and fostering the cats yourself.  Please contact TCR for information and guidance on how to trap and sterilize stray cats in your neighbourhood.

For more information or to apply for this program please call 416-538-8592 (press #3) or email tcr.surrender@gmail.com. You will be asked to complete the Stray Rescue Application and email it to TCR. Thank you for taking the time to find these cats a new, safe, forever home. We will do all that we can to assist you.

Hello there – We have been catching feral cats in our neighbourhood and taking them to the vet to get their shots, SNAP tested, fixed, etc., and have been able to find homes for all the ones we’ve had so far (including keeping one). We’re having trouble finding homes for the most recent two (a mom about 2 years old and one of her kittens who is about 4-5 months). Our household is already quite a zoo (three cats and two dogs), and we also now have an infant. We’re feeling pretty overwhelmed and am feeling that we’re not getting to spend as much time with the cat/kitten as we should be to help get them better socialized (they’re pet-able and litter trained but very shy). Does anyone have any interest or know anyone who would have any interest in fostering these two cats until they find a forever home?

I have a beautiful cat in my home, she is a three and a half year old Siamese named Rusty. Her owner was taking her to a shelter because he could no longer care for her. She is a very sweet loving cat but is definitely a cat for someone with no other pets. I currently have 2 of my own and she does not like them around (it’s kind of scary) I have placed her in a separate room and visit her often (every hour or so) This is not the way for a cuddly cat like her. What can I do? I’m afraid if she goes to a shelter she will be hissing at the other cats and no one will be able to see how sweet she is. If anyone is interested please email me at cherie.duffield@live.ca

A family moved away and left their cat behind. I took him/her in for a while but really can’t keep him much longer. Any ideas what should I do. Where can I take him.

I have a few stray cats in my neighborhood but dont know anyone who wants any. I took one in for 2 days but my mom was terrified so i had to give it to the shelter which was a huge mistake because i didnt know they would be killed. If anyone is interested in these cats which arent more then a year old send me an email to davidtang264@gmail.com

David, are you in a position to take in one or two still, did anything come of this? I have two females that I am currently working on finding fosters or homes for — I rescued, vetted and homed the kittens and now there is the mom and her friend/sister(????) that I am having spayed. But I have no where to take them. They are not true ferals but are shy and would need someone to spend some time socializing them. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks!!! It unfortunate that you don’t trap cats that are in situations where the people who have spotted them are unable to. I saw 3 kittens near on Gooch near Dundas last night that can’t be more then 4 month old. They are not with their mother and their fur looks pretty nice so they haven’t been stray for long. I’m concerned because Dundas is such a busy street and the one kitten we found was in the middle of the road and didn’t move when we drove past. I got out and was able to get within a foot of the leader but no closer. I would love to foster them but I don’t live in that area and can’t go back there every day to build trust in order to capture them. I’ve emailed TCR but I thought I’d post here as well. I hope someone can help.
