Owner Surrender Program

Toronto Cat Rescue receives many daily calls from owners asking us to take in their family pets, which for various reasons they no longer are able to keep.  Because our foster homes are always full, our solution is the Owner Surrender Program.

Toronto Cat Rescue Owner Surrender Program allows you use of our volunteers and our website to assist you in your efforts of finding your cat a new home. If your cat is healthy, social and adoptable, we can provide assistance in finding homes for these loved pets.  Your cat will remain with you in your home and be posted on the Available Cats section of our website, and on websites we are affiliated with (ie. PetFinder.com and Adopt-A-Pet.com).  Toronto Cat Rescue adoption coordinators will recommend your cat to suitable potential adopters, and then you can set-up a time to have the potential adopter meet your cat.  If you and the adopter are happy with the adoption, then you will have them fill in the TCR adoption contract, collect the adoption fee (mail both to TCR) and be safe in the knowledge that your cat has been adopted into an amazing new family.

For detailed information and to apply for this program please call 416-538-8592 (press #3) or email tcr.surrender@gmail.com. We also ask that you complete the Owner Surrender Application and email it to TCR. Thank you for taking the time to find your cat a new, safe, forever home. We will do all that we can to assist you.

I have a 1 year old long haired Tabby that I NEED to find a home for ASAP. He is very affectionate and a great mouser. I have just found out that my son is highly allergic. I don’t want to take him to the local SPCA and would rather find a home for him. Outdoor/Indoor. Please help.

    Hi
We have an orange and white tabby that is approximately 7-8 years old. We adopted him from the Progress Rd Shelter. Our difficulty is that he has, on occasion, sprayed furniture. We have consulted a vet on a number of occasions. His health is good. We have tried medication, pheromone dispensers, altering his comfort area in the house. The behaviour started a few months after we got him. He took about a year off, but has begun again and has sprayed more often that ever before. We really don’t know if he is adoptable and although we are hesitant to surrender him to a shelter knowing the possibility of euthanasia, we cannot continue. He has caused quite a bit of permanent damage to our house. What are our options?

I have a DSH Tabby, spayed female, 7 years old that needs to find a home ASAP.
She is very affectionate and a great cat but needs to be in a home without any other pets. Her original owners could no longer care for her so I only took her in until a suitable home was found but has turned into 2 months. I have other cats and rabbits and she does not get a long with them at all.
It has been very difficult on all of us.
Please can you give her a furever, loving home?

Thanks for that comment. I have sent them an email and filled out the surrender form but have yet to hear back from anyone. I know you are all very busy and have sooo many cats to home but this situation is real urgent.
This cat deserves to live in a peaceful setting….she is so affectionate but cannot express her full love here.

I am moving and have 8 cats. Where i am moving, is on highway and i am trying to find homes for 2 of the cats as they must remain indoor due to highway and wild animals. Presently where i am, they wander out to the back deck and are fine, but i do not want to take a chance on them getting hurt or going to the highway. I am upset at surrendering 2 of them and making the choice is difficult..I have Phoenix, a 3 mos old male, non neutered black with few white hairs and another one Mildred gray, fixed, and white who is 4. I have rescued all my cats, then my daughter recently brought home Phoenix. I am obviously upset about this as i dearly love them, but having 8 indoor cats is too much. Is there anyone who can help me out? I am moving Dec. 1 to Caledon..My cell is 416 414 6479.
