Colony Sponsorship

Hurontario & Dundas

Donations are desperately needed to support Trap-Neuter-Return (Monitor) efforts in a West End colony that TCR has started working with.

This colony, located at Hurontario and Dundas in Mississauga, consists of at least 35 cats that have been cared for by community members for approximately a decade. With all the inbreeding that has taken place over the years, almost the entire colony is grey, black and white, or black! The cats are fed every day by dedicated caregivers, and they are well sheltered. The colony sits behind a strip plaza that backs onto a park.

All they need is to stop breeding! TNR(M) is well under way, with 16 cats already fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped and returned to the colony. 16 cats as of Feb 15th have been TNR’d, 8 of which have been done through Toronto Cat Rescue trappers, clinics, recovery homes and drivers. Plans to trap 4 more cats are in place for the next two weeks. However it is an expensive endeavour for a rescue group to carry all of the costs associated with TNR(M). Each cat costs at least $100 in vet bills.

Will you donate towards the cause? All donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt and go directly towards the spaying/neutering efforts. If you make a $100 donation one more cat from this colony can get fixed! Please donate online via CanadaHelps, please make a note that your donation is for “Sue G’s Mississauga Colony”.

  1. Hello, I live about a block away from this location. 2 1/2 years ago I adopted two feral kitten brothers. They are lovely, loving cats now. Feeding them over this period has resulted in them eating only flaked tuna & whiska’s kibble. Wanting variety for them I have bought various kinds of “high quality” different foods which they refuse to eat. Currently I have bags of treats and kibble which they dislike. Wish to donate food when I have extra. I am searching to find a feral cat colony which I could take my excess dry food instead when I buy food and they will not eat. Wondering if this is helpful or not?

    • TCR greatly appreciates all food donations – please call our main line 416-538-8592 with what you are able to donate and location and a volunteer will call you back to arrange a pick-up/drop-off time. Thank you so much!
