Ronson (Kipling & 401)

The Ronson colony is located on Ronson Drive in the Kipling/401 area. It is a large family of cats who live behind the fenced in area of a warehouse, under a trailer. This colony has existed for the past eight years.

When TCR was first contacted about this group of cats in January 2010 it was estimated that there were approximately twenty cats being fed by the community; all young, un-fixed and breeding. Thanks to the incredible work of three very dedicated TCR volunteers the colony is now well-managed and no more kittens have been born this year! The volunteers at the Ronson Colony have done amazing work: fundraising, trapping and recovering these beautiful cats before releasing them back to a site where they are sheltered and fed daily. Thanks to all who have donated generously to get this colony fixed; without your support these cats would still be breeding and suffering today. As of March 2011, 39 cats have been fixed from the Ronson colony. There are 3-4 stragglers left to be trapped before trapping is complete. Even after trapping has been completed, however, work will continue to keep the cats happy and healthy.

Donations are still needed to help pay for any newcomers, the remaining 3 or 4 cats spay/neuter surgeries, as well as any future medical bills if some colony cats have to be re-trapped and treated for illness or injury. Donations can be made online via CanadaHelps.
