Available Cats

Click Here to view all our cats and kittens available for adoption.

When you adopt a cat from Toronto Cat Rescue you save two lives; the one you adopt and the one you make room for.

TO ADOPT: please call TCR’s adoption line: (416) 538-8592, press 1 and leave a message  /  email,  include your name & phone number: tcr.adoptions@hotmail.com / fill in the online form below.

Our adoption fee is $175. Each cat has a two week assessment period in their foster home before being available for adoption.  This ensures that the cats that come into our care receive the medical attention they need and we learn about their personalities, likes & dislikes.  Our fee includes: spay or neuter, vaccination (receive a rabies vaccination, if age appropriate) and includes 6 weeks of free pet insurance.

Mooch IS fun and he sleeps in the weirdest places – windowsills, laundry baskets and the bathtub – anywhere BUT a bed

Problems are part of owning any pet, just like raising a child. “Mooch” is a bit of a nag and demands attention, he jumps places he shouldn’t – but he’ll learn. Just give them lots of love

do you have to pay for food litter and othe supplies also do you need to pay for vet care and do you get to pick your cat if you are fostering.

    • Hi Olivia, Our foster parents supply their own food and litter for their foster cat (though when we do get donations, we totally share!). TCR will pay for the vet expenses. You can have a chat with our foster home coordinators if you have a preference for which cat you would like to foster, or if you would like to save a cat from a high-kill animal shelter, vs. the streets, etc… Please fill in our foster home form on our Volunteer With Us page! :)

I’m still getting used to having “Mooch” around, he’s so different from his predecessors. He won’t go NEAR human food (as I discovered for sure yesterday when I realized I’d gone out and left chicken bones in the garbage). He also sits at your feet and pants like a dog if he wants to play

I adopted a 5 year old cat last year named “Lyla”from the TCR. I had some trouble the first couple months with a behavioural problem but persisted with it. Eventually the problem went away. She is now a very happy cat and gets along with older male cat Italix. She has put new life in him. I bought organic catnip and I spend hours laughing at both of them. My next cat will be adopted from the Toronto Cat Rescue. I am very happy now with Lyla.

We received two kittens from TCR… Pansy & Tiny… whom we respectively re-named Tofu (a tortie) and Cheesewhiz (a LH orange). Tofu was about 10 weeks & Cheesewhiz was about 3 months. We fell in love with them from their pictures immediately.! There was a bit of phone calling back and forth but we were committed to having rescues and were so excited to have these two! If we had more space we’d be fostering mostly because Tofu & Cheesewhiz are extremely social and LOVE meeting new people and pets (dogs & cats). Being in an apartment they also walk on a leash and love following the bugs on the patio! We’re so thankful to have these two part of our family from TCR :)

    • Love their new names! LOVE that they are a loved part of the family and you are having lots of fun with them! Amazing forever homes like yours are one of the reasons why our volunteers work so hard saving these precious cats.
