We have cats for every type of home and forever family.

Whether you are looking for a playful cat or one who is more laidback, is ok with kids or dogs, or those looking to be the only king or queen of the castle, our adoption coordinators can help you pick a kitty that is the purr-fect addition to your family.

Hello Potential Adopters!

We are providing some information regarding the adoption process. We kindly ask that you read the information below prior to calling or emailing. Hopefully, this will help get you the information you need quickly!

We are committed at TCR to a fair and transparent adoption process, and we hope this helps in achieving that.

All our available cats and kittens are listed on our website when they are ready for adoption.

If you are interested in adopting a cat you met at one of our partner stores and they are not posted on our website, please complete our online adoption form found on the following link

If you have seen a cat on our social media and they do not appear on this webpage, they are not available yet or have already been adopted.

The journey to be ready for adoption is different for each cat so we do not know when animals will be available in advance. When they are ready, we will post on our website.

We are not able to accept applications for kittens that do not appear on our website. Due to the overwhelming number of inquiries for kittens, we are only able to respond to applications for a specific kitten that is listed on the website.

If you are unsure as to which of the cats on our website might be a good fit for your home and would like assistance in identifying a cat (not a kitten) who might be a good match, please provide as much information regarding your circumstances as possible. We will do our best to assist you.

Please note that we are unable to proceed with adoption applications from outside the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the Region of Kitchener-Waterloo.

While we rescue cats from shelters in need in rural Ontario and Quebec to help cats at risk, we encourage potential adopters to support your local rescue groups. Please check with rescue groups, your local shelter or humane society for available cats in your area.

Found a cat you'd like to adopt? Please call the TCR Hotline – 416-538-8592 (press 1 for adoptions and leave a message), or submit an adoption inquiry form online.

Adoption Process

After you've inquired about a cat, we will get back to you with what happens next. We'll ask some questions about you and your home to make the purrfect match, and answer any questions you may have.

Next, we schedule a meet and greet between you, the cat you are interested in, and it's current foster home. If you decide it’s a match, you will sign the TCR Contract of Adoption, pay the adoption fee and arrange to bring your kitty home.

Our adoption fee is $225 for kittens under 8 months old, $200 for cats 8 months to 8 years. This includes spay or neuter, vaccination, rabies vaccination (if age appropriate). This fee also includes the mandatory City of Toronto cat license for Toronto residents, valid for one year.

In order to have as many successful adoptions as possible, each cat has a two-week assessment period before being available for adoption. This time ensures they get any medical attention they need and allows us to understand their personalities better.

Note: All senior cats (8 years or older) have an adoption fee of the adopter's choice, vs. our standard adoption fee of $200.

Many people think of cats as solitary animals, but this is not always the case. Some cats can form incredibly strong bonds and become codependent on one another. These are known as bonded pairs, and it's important they are adopted together to ensure both animals' happiness. Our adoption fee for a bonded pair is $125 per cat (this only applies to cats eight months and older), vs. $200 per cat.
