Are you looking to do something personally rewarding and emotionally fulfilling? Do you love the sound of the purr? Then you want to volunteer with TCR at one of our affiliated pet stores!! TCR is currently seeking self motivated people to entertain and amuse some purr-fectly cute felines. We need your help to keep our kitties happy!
Where you ask? At the most convenient South Brampton store at Kennedy and Steeles near the Sportcheck. PetSmart Brampton: 547 Steeles Ave. East / 905-874-9999 / map
Volunteers are required 2 to 3 times a day to clean cages, feed and play with the kitties. You will receive full training in-store, no experience required – just patience, understanding and lots of love to give freely to our kitties.
Want A Bigger Role Within TCR? If you find that you feel you can take on more than just a couple hours a week, we are looking for that fabulous individual to take on the challenge if this store. You will work along side the current store coordinator from the PetSmart Airport Road store while you are readied for this uniquely challenging role. If this sounds like something you want to tackle, what are you waiting for? The kitties are waiting!
Please fill in our Volunteer Form today, stating your availability in the Comments Section – our kitties will be back in the PetSmart Steeles location October 1st!
Please note: Minimum age is 14 years to volunteer in our PetSmart locations, but you must be accompanied by someone you know who is 18 years or older.

do you have any kittens in either of the Eglinton Ave. east locations in Toronto?
Sadly, we do not.
Hi. My friend and I are wondering if there are any stores in the gta that need kittie friends?
We stores in Toronto, Brampton, Mississauga and Vaughan – please see the Volunteer Form for details.
Don’t you have cats available in Kitchener-Waterloo PetSmarts?
Do you need volunteers there?
We do have kitties in the PetSmart at 655 Fairway Road South / 519-748-1889. We currently have our daily volunteer needs covered, but we do need volunteers to help with the adopt-a-thons (next one in November!).
That’s too far away for me
The new one on Ira Needles would be good but I think they have pet patrol cats
Don’t worry Lisa- staff count the kitties before they let you out of the store. Otherwise I’d bring all of them home with me, too!

You do end up falling in love several times a month, and wanting to take a few fuzzy beasties home with you a the end of every shift. That is to be expected.
But realistically once you’d done that 6 or so times, you’d be in a bit of a pickle- having no room for the rest of the little homeless waifs- so it’s pretty easy to focus on getting other people to take them home instead- I remind myself that the spare kitty-spot in my home needs to stay free for an emergency visitor who might REALLY need it one day.
The most rewarding thing about volunteering in a store is leaving at the end of your shift- when you walk out of the door knowing that all those kitties are properly tucked up for the night- safe and warm, in clean condos, with full tummies, memories of awesome games and petting sessions, and some toys, treats and catnip to keep them busy ’til 9am comes around- when they’ll be sucking up the love and attention of other volunteers and customers, while they look for their forever home.
Knowing that they are gonna be ok, and that they will soon be living long, safe, comfortable lives in warm homes, being spoiled rotten by wonderful families who love them very much- knowing that this future will happen for each and every one of them because YOU made sure of it by being there for them, as a small but integral part of something awesome… is a really REALLY great feeling.
A part of me hates to see my store kitties go home with their adopters instead of with me, but boy am I excited and happy for them! It’s a bit like being a proud parent watching your children go out into the world- knowing they’ll be ok, ‘cos you brought them up right.
A lot of adopters come back to the store to buy supplies- armed with pictures and updates, too, which helps hugely- I’ve even been stopped by an enthusiastic yell of “hey! hi! cat lady?!” in the mall- by somebody who wanted to tell me how awesome their TCR kitty is, and to thank me so much for my help in finding them the perfect little furry friend to join their family.
*tries not to feel all mushy inside*
Oh my god he is so cute. My problem if I volunteered I would end up bringing them all home with me.
Lisa
Hi,
I filled out a volunteer application and I’ve received word regarding the driving part of it, but I haven’t heard anything about the Kitty Cuddler part. Should I fill it out again? Or is it because my availability is limited to evenings and weekends?
Thanks,
Laura Poole
Thanks so much Laura! We have your application, a volunteer should contact you shortly.
