Donations are desperately needed to support Trap-Neuter-Return (Monitor) efforts in a West End colony that TCR has just started working with.
This colony, located at Hurontario and Dundas in Mississauga, consists of at least 35 cats that have been cared for by community members for approximately a decade. With all the inbreeding that has taken place over the years, almost the entire colony is grey, black & white, or black! The cats are fed every day by dedicated caregivers, and they are well sheltered. The colony sits behind a strip plaza that backs onto a park.
All they need is to stop breeding! TNR(M) is well under way, with 9 cats already fixed, vaccinated, ear tipped and returned to the colony. However it is an expensive endeavour for a rescue group to carry all of the costs associated with TNR(M). Each cat costs at least $100 in vet bills.
Will you donate towards the cause? All donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt and go directly towards the spaying/neutering efforts. If you make a $100 donation one more cat from this colony can get fixed! Please donate online via CanadaHelps, please make a note that your donation is for “Sue G’s Mississauga Colony”. If you have any questions, please email: sarahmay3@gmail.com.
There is a very small (5-7 wk old) kitten living Alone under the big bridge in Erindale park! I tried to catch it today but it hid in the rocks.. If you can help me to catch it, I can take you to it! The hs claims it was born there so they won’t come get it unless it’s hurt, but this is a teensy kitten and I’m sure coyotes or foxes will get it soon if someone doesn’t step in and get it! It will be easy to catch with a humane trap bc it’s quite hungry.. Please email or call 9054676320

I live in west Mississauga and would like to volunteer my time for the feral cats. Is there a colony in my area that needs help? Thanks.
we need help in west mississauga ,please.there are 8 to 10 cats living under an old ladies deck.I put a bale of straw for bedding and the lady is feeding them.they are breeding as I type,I will do what ever it takes for these beautiful blacks and tabbies.thank you.
Hi Perry, Please call our “Help For Cats” line – 416-538-8592, press #3 and leave a message. A volunteer will call you back to discuss how TCR is able to assist.
I need help to care for a feral pregnant female that lives in my neighbourhood. How can I get her TNRD’d, along with her kitten from a previous litter? I’d be happy to keep feeding them but they are too wild to live inside. I don’t want to send them to Animal Control where they will surely be destroyed. I will pay the $100 per cat for medical care/spaying…is there a vet out there that will help me?
…Melinda
Thank you so much for helping these cats!! It is best to call TCR’s Help For Cats volunteers, 416-538-8592, press #3 and leave a message. A volunteer will contact you shortly.
Ir recently made a monthly donation to continue through to end of May 1914.I had stated that the money could be used for any cat colony currently being cared for by TCR, The the amount of money that I committed to is not great, but I hope it helps. I would like to have the money go towards The Mississauga cat colony at Hurontario St. .
An update on this colony: 16 cats as of Feb 15th have been TNR’d, 8 of which have been done through Toronto Cat Rescue trappers, clinics, recovery homes and drivers. Plans to trap 4 more cats are in place for the next two weeks. Donations are needed to continue our progress!
And as of April 17th: 23 cats have now been TNR’d plus an friendly (abandoned) newcomber showed up in March. He was neutered, vaccinated and ADOPTED through TCR!! TCR resources are responsible for 15 successfully TNR’d cats. There are 8-10 left to finish this colony and funds are running out! Please donate so we can help the others!
